Infected, by Geofrey OdangaMission to the Fatherless

Kenyan Artist Picture Project

Geofrey Odanga is an artist who lives in a mud hut near Kakamega. He and his wife, Rose, have one child. He draws and makes banana leaf pictures.

We obtained one of Geofrey's drawings that tells about the devastation AIDS brings to Africa. We had the picture scanned, and an artist friend arranged for printing through a church in Akron, OH, The Chapel on Fir Hill. Paper, ink, equipment, and time were all donated.

Geofrey wants to give 40% of the proceeds of the sale of this picture to Mission to the Fatherless orphans. Geofrey attends the church that started as an outgrowth of the orphanage. The picture is called Infected.

This video tells about the artist and picture. It also includes the kids at Oyugis performing a poem about AIDs written by Douglas, Director of the Oyugis home.

The drawing is available on 11x17 (inch) stock, either white, or ivory. When we visit him this summer, we will ask Geoffrey to sign some of the prints.

Place your order now securely through PayPal. You can pay with a credit card, or use your PayPal account. You can choose a hand-signed print and the color of the paper. Each print will come with a copy of Geofrey's intrepretation. Signed prints will be available sometime after June 2009.
